                                                   Our everyday heroes!

Now our little family has 3 approved "Visitor-dogs".

It is ”Mimmi”, "Stumpan" and norrbottensspetsen ”Ronja” who has, all 3 of them been tested and approved as "visitordogs" here in Skellefteå.

A visitordog is used at retirement homes, and by dogs' unique ways / behavior, spread joy for living. A valuable task.

To be suitable for this task the dog has to be socialy curious, love people of all kind, even if they have any type of deviant behavior.

The meeting between residents and the dog must be done in an appropriate manner, not too intense, but with respect from the dog's side. The dog must fix when it falls around crutches, walking frames, wheelchairs and everything else related to the care setting.

In other words, the dog has to have good nerves ,  heart and it´s heart at the right place.

Nisse and I are very proud of our three everyday heroes.

The days between christmas and new year we luckely got visitors, it was
Polarskäggets Bedårande Bessie (B-litter), and Johannes,
from Uppsala.
So fun!
It showed that Bessie had become a quite good looking young lady.
She´s pretty much looking like her mother, our Stumpan. Both her looks and her ways.

A lovely young bitch, very much loved by her owners. What a joy for a breedersheart
to see the interaction between Bessie and Johannes.

Thanks for coming Johannes and Bessie!

STUMPAN,
SWEDENS, and the NORDIC COUNTRIES FIRST BOSTONTERRIER WITH THE TITLE

SWEDISH

 WILDTRACKCHAMPION

Judge Gunhild Björne, Stumpan and I.

Today I´ve, along with 2 of our bitches, Stumpan and Grynet, participated in wildtracktest here in Skellefteå. It was a cold day, with the feeling of winter coming in the air.

Stumpan has earlier succeded to get 2 of 3 necessary 1st prices. This day she was on her best trackingmood, so hopefully she would fix one more 1st price. If so, she would be qualified for Swedish Wildtrackchampionship.

We started, me a little bit nervous, and Stumpan very much "on". And, after approximately half the track I understood that if she would keep on as she´s started, she would fix it. And she did. With the honour. She found the elkhoof, grabbed it in her mouth, and shaked it with power to "kill" that nasty elk who had spreed blood all over the woods. It´s not easy to keep the tears when one can see ones dog so content and happy.

After the track we had to wait for the judges final review. And...Stumpan got 1st price, again, and therefore went qualified to the title Swedish Wildtrackchampion.

-I knew that she would fix it. WOW! Our loved Stumpan, I knew that you´ve got the capacity, willingness and interest to do it-.

To receive that championship rosette from the judge was just lovely. It´s got a place of honour in our home.

The fact that Stumpan also happens to be the first Boston Terrier in the Nordic countries with this title is especially fun.

GRYNET,

APPROVED IN APTITUDE TEST, WILDTRACKING

Judge Ingrid Björne, Grynet and I.

Then it became Grynet´s turn to make her debut in the wildtracking industry, the aptitude class. I felt a little more exciting, especially considering that she was in the middle of her heatperiod, and probably had different things in her mind.

However, she surprised us all a lot. Took on track quickly without problems (according to the judge). I hardly recognized her. She worked on in a way that she almost never done during trainings, despite heat. Unbelievable. Just as Stumpan Grynet´s very purposeful, precise and energetic. Really fun to work with. Guess if she was pleased to find the hoof?

I felt in me that her work probably would be approved, and this turned out to be just right.

So I stood there with the two lovely little creatures, Stumpan and Grynet, and 2 rosettes in my hand. What a day!  What happiness when you are paid for work been done. And above all a joy to see the girls so proudly wear their hooves back to the cars after the end of the track. So fun!

Now we are aiming towards new goals. What, only the future can tell.

STUMPAN HAS PARTICIPATED IN WILDTRACKINGCOMPETITION.

Now Stumpan and I have participated in wildtrackingcompetition, again. The first time, a few weeks ago, she worked really well, but had a bit of bad luck. That time we got a 3rd price.

But this time, a very, very warm summerday it went really well. It was still very hot, but not as much as the last time. No rain, for ages.
Stumpan worked really hard. The terrain was very variable, and it was really hot. She had some problems at the beginning of the track, but solved them beautiful. As the track went on she worked better and better.

After this track I was very very proud of Stumpan. Lots oftraining, lots ofcoffee andhigh consumption ofmosquito repellentproduced results. Nowit wasexciting towait for thejudge'sreviewand what priceStumpan would get.

- Okey, no doubt, Stumpan´s getting a 1st price- I heard the judge say. JIPPI! My loved Stumpan, I knew that she could.

This weekend I went, along with my god friend Maria, www.lowriders.se, to Överkalix nationell dogshow. A lovely arrangement, sunshine and a little bit of progress. What more can one expect?

Our juniorbitch, Polarskäggets Bedårande Bella was the only participating bostonterrier that got excellent. The judge, Kurt Nilsson, liked her a lot but wouldn´t give her the certificate because she is not "ready" yet.

Bella waiting for her turn

Bellas mother, our lovely Stumpan, Barrocos Yummy Yummy, got very good.

Cruft's 2011

For the first time in my life I have, together with a good friend and breeder, visited Cruft's in England. We flew from Skelleftea, via Stockholm and Munich, to Birmingham.
We lived in an older, typical English hotel, in the center of Birmingham. Apart from a "crazy" elevator who lived its own life, the hotel was ok.
The service was great, plenty of breakfast hosts that ran at each other in their eagerness to serve more - Coffee or tea? -
Though, it would have been nice if the the coffee had tasted coffee???

Our first day in Birmingham, we plyaied tourists. However, the city is great, and big. It felt that we just had time to walk around the next few quarters. Something that was really nice was a cup of coffee and ice cream, in the sunshine, at a typical english coffeeshop, soaking up the atmosphere in town.

And yes, we had lovely weather. Sun and around +12 degrees.

For the easiest way to come to the show, we took the train that went from one station only 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The train ride took only 10 minutes and the cost was only 3 pounds. It felt that their communications are far from similar to those we have here in the countryside in northern Sweden. From the train, it was a short walk to the Exhibition Halls, The Nec, where the dogshow was held.

The show and everything around was an incredible experience. A fantastic event with a large number number of shows competitions, groomingcompetition, various kinds of environment stalls and last but not least, dogs. Of course it was also one o another person there, which was quite evident in the crowds and queues between vendors, eateries, and the big arena where all the finals were held. After a while we heard ourselves say-Sorry! - Just as the English do so as soon as they accidentally bump into someone only the absolute minimum. The English are very kind and friendly.

Groomingcompetition:

It was really lots of space around the showrings, and lots of chairs on display, (the ones we´ve brought was not needed). The rings had good size and a superb base, one beautiful green carpet all over the rings.

However, it was liiite hard to keep up with the assessment, among others because the catalogue was not organized as we are accustomed.

We saw one or two small "star", a lot of "mediocre" and some that we wondered how they could qualify for Cruft's. And we had troubles with "understanding" what the judge, Mr P Clifton, estimated foquiter the type of boston.
However, the exhibition ran on really well, and 86 bostons were assessed.

Apart from lots of pains in the feet and back, thinner wallet and some small disappointment that the English language that I thought myself master quited good, nonetheless got the tongue caught in my mouth, I think it was worth every penny to visit Crufts.
We had a great time. Maybe .... maybe another year ???
