THE BOSTONTERRIER AND IT'S HISTORY

-The Bostonterrier is USA:s nationalbreed, but it had it´s roots in England,
where they early was interested in dogbaiting. For that purpose the English
tried various crossbreedings. The one that took place in the early 1800-century
between bulldog and the nowadays extinct old English terrier, was generally
considered successful and became the bostonterriers ancestor.

The year 1889 – 1930

Even in the USA dogbaiting became popular, particulary  around the town Boston.
The year 1865 a male, called Judge, with the above mentioned background was
imported. And he became the beginning of the breed bostonterrier. Later on the
breed became an object for restricted breeding, and through that the type was
consolidated. Nowadays the breed doesn´t show particular big likeness with terriers.
Bostonterrier was acknowledged as a breed by the American Kennelclub 1893.

In it´s country of birth the Boston´s are divided in following weightgroups:

Under 15 pounds (6,8 kg)
15 – 20 pounds (8-9 kg)
20 pounds, but not over 25 pounds (9 kg, but not more than 11,1 kg) –

                                                    Quotation from Sw. Bostonterrierclub.

" Todays bostons are very happy, alert, very easy to handle and enormous charming
dogs. It loves children, to be with the family and to “work” (agility for instans).
Always alert for new things, love to “play” football, go for long walks in the woods,
but also to jump up in the tv-sofa."

You newer get bored if you have a boston.
